Valoración de la contribución zonal a la conectividad de la red Natura 2000 en el País Vasco

Abstract

Se realiza una investigación, mediante métodos geomáticos de análisis y modelado espacial, con objeto de valorar la contribución de diferentes espacios naturales (nodos) y de la matriz territorial en la que se insertan a la conectividad de la red de conservación del País Vasco. Por un lado, se estima la superficie efectiva de hábitat que presenta localmente el sector del territorio en el que se ubica cada nodo. Por otro lado, se estima el grado de contribución de cada nodo a la conectividad regional, incorporando el efecto que presenta la matriz territorial en la que se insertan. Se comprueba que la superficie efectiva de hábitat no explica la relevancia de los nodos para mantener la conectividad regional. Este resultado sugiere que ciertos corredores ecológicos que tienen como objeto mantener la conectividad entre nodos de superficie efectiva relativamente reducida podrían ejercer una función conectora clave a escala regional.
